Ravens release Hauschka
November 18th, 2009 | by Kevin Hanson |The Ravens have released kicker Steve Hauschka and will sign his replacement by today’s practice.
Hauschka missed another field goal less than 40 yards in the win over the Browns. Since it was the Browns, the kick didn’t matter in the outcome of the game. But previous Hauschka misses have cost the Ravens games.
Indianapolis (and Matt Stover) and their unbeaten record (9-0) come to town this weekend which puts the spotlight on the error that John Harbaugh made by letting Stover go.
“It just didn’t work out for both parties,” Harbaugh said (of Stover). “We said all along that if we could bring him back at a certain time, we were going to try to do it. For the last four weeks, he’s been in Indianapolis. We’re doing the best we can with the kicking situation with the circumstances that we kind of faced at the end of last year.”
Only three kickers — Carolina’s John Kasay, Atlanta’s Jason Elam and Jacksonville’s Josh Scobee — had lower FG percentage than Hauschka (69.2%).
