Ravens tried to talk Willie Anderson out of retirement
September 4th, 2009 | by Kevin Hanson |According to retired tackle Willie Anderson (via his Twitter account), the Ravens have tried to talk him out of retirement since he retired in May.
Last night, Anderson tweeted: “Just had to inform Raven’s coaching staff and manangement that for now I’m staying retired.” Anderson added, “They’ve been in talks with me since May about coming back. I wanted to come back too!”
Anderson, who started 11 games last year, would have provided depth behind starters Jared Gaither and Michael Oher and mentorship for Oher. Currently, their back-ups are Oniel Cousins and Joe Reitz.
“Not saying that down the line if they need I won’t come back. I know I can play for 3 more years so who knows what may happen down the line.”
Anderson is a 13-year veteran and he made four Pro Bowls (2003-2006) with Cincinnati.
